Sarah Chieko Bonnickson is a curious creative interested in questioning and blurring arbitrary boundaries between disciplines. Her work encompasses design, writing, and art, additionally informed by years of curation and cataloging experience in libraries, archives, and museums.
Sarah’s research-based practice engages a longstanding interest in reframing and recontextualizing common, everyday objects or subjects and seeking ways of understanding that disrupt hierarchies of value embedded in cultural norms. Her recently completed thesis towards an MFA in Design from California College of the Arts focused on redirecting attention: helping people to register things in their environment that they had previously ignored, encouraging close consideration in lieu of reflexive assumptions. She also holds a BA in Rhetoric from UC Berkeley, with specialization in Image, Narrative, and Art History. She is currently located in Marseille, France.
